Formal Friday

Last week was tweed and this week its corduroy in my continuing education of fabrics other than cotton. Corduroy to me is more familiar because for some reason it is used a lot in Africa and is actually accessible in casual clothing so I'm actually surprised it is used formally. A durable tough cotton is what can describe this fabric and it is composed of tuft cords giving it in simple terms that ridged feel it has from line to line of fabric. Just like tweed it can be worn casually to formally and though it might warmer than tweed it is a fixture of fall to winter fashion. A corduroy blazer would go perfectly with those vintage sweaters I am in pursuit of in addition to that they can be very versatile and leave you many options as to what to put on for the rest of your outfit.
