Formal Fridays

I'm back mothersucka!!! With Black History month coming to a close, I notice I did not post anything pertaining to the subject. Appalling I know, I guess you get lost when you are trying so hard to make your own history you forget who made that possible. But in regards to that during one of my recent runs web-surfing I came across another cool slideshow on GQ's website; The Birth of Cool: 20 Black Style Pioneers. I felt empowered when I recognized most of them and the guys from Street Etiquette brought a lot of things to light. As usual I picked the five i liked the most and the gentlemen I can relate to, sometimes I feel like being black is the definition of cool....

Miles Davis
One of the coolest cats to live he was confident and carried himself that way.

Sammy Davis Jr.
Our representation in the Rat Pack and did his best to step out of the box and just be in the group. GQ points out his style is one of those referenced in many of today.

Richard Pryor
Never failed in being dressed up as much as he didn't into turning storytelling an avenue in comedy. Pryor just like in his comedy wore things a little outside outside the box that was aligned with his personality

Huey P. Newton
Founder of the Black Panther party who felt it was necessary to make a statement in all they did, with the all black very stylish wardrobe.( I just learned the leather jacket over a white button down shirt was a statement in its own)

Sidney Poitier
Crisp dude, everything he did was crisp when Black people were not getting credibility; his acting made people take him seriously and so did his choice of clothing and sharp sense of style.

This just reminds me to continue thinking outside the box and standing and being your own person. These guys did it in a society where their efforts went above and beyond what was expected of them; style is a way to create the aura and confidence we all strive for but it should always represent you.....

FEEL SHARP AND BE SHARP

Time to Fly

Been feeling grounded life can deal you some blows so I just hit pit road and realized al the work I have done and realized I can't stay grounded when I've been flying towards my goals. We all can fly if we just tell ourselves and remind ourselves no matter what comes at us.

Destiny Child: T-Shirt

"T-Shirt"

[Spoken Beyonce]
Hey Baby
I Wish You Could See What I Have On Right Now
You So Sexy
Imagine How Intense It Would Be
To Hold Me Right Now
Our Song's Playing

[Verse 1 Beyonce]
At Night, When You're Far And I'm Alone
I Feel The Fabric From Your T-Shirt
Close To My Body
I Can Still Hear Your Baritone
In My Ear Telling Me You'll Take It Slow
And I Was In The Mirror Playing A Roll
Like You Were Here, I Couldn't Turn Me On
So I Fell Asleep With The Music On
Woke Up Again Hearing The Same Old Song, Playing

[PreChorus Kelly]
(Oh) Give It To Me Deeper
(Oh) Giving Me The Fever
(Oh) Now You Got My Feet Up
This One Is A Keeper
Now The Second Verse Is Playing
(Oh) We Tried To Stand Up
(Oh) Hold Me While My Hands Up
(Oh) And The Music Picks Up
Fantasies Were Shook Up
I'm Thinking To Myself Again

[Chorus]
When You're Not Here (I Sleep In Your T-Shirt)
I Wish You Were Here (To Take Off Your T-Shirt)
After We Make Love (I Sleep In Your T-Shirt)
Wake Up In Your T-Shirt,
Still Smell The Scent Of Your Cologne
When I Need Your Feel (I Sleep In Your T-Shirt)
I Need Help (To Take Off Your T-Shirt)
After We Make Love (I Sleep In Your T-Shirt)
Wake Up In Your T-Shirt,
Still Smell The Scent Of Your Cologne

[Verse 2 Beyonce]
Outside I Hear The Rain On My Windowpane
Hold Up A Minute, Thought I Heard Your Name
My Mind, Playing Tricks On Me Again
I Hear Knocks On The Door, Is That Baby Home
Why Couldn't It Be Reality?
Looked At The Clock It Says 4:03
At Nine, He'll Be Arriving On A Plane
Then We'll Be Making Love And Hearing The Song Again

[PreChorus]
[Chorus]

[Bridge Michelle]
Oh Boy I've Been Waiting
Now My Body's Shaking
You're So Deep, Baby Please, Take It Easy
I Look At Your Face And
Got My Heart Racing
You're So Deep, Baby Please, Take It Easy

[Spoken Beyonce]
Keep It Right There
Oh, Wait, Wait, Yeah
Keep It Right There
You Driving Me Crazy

Black History Month: Jackie Robinson

If you don't know Jackie Robinson broke the Color Barrier in Baseball.

Wet t-shirt Wednesday!!

Angelina Jolie!

IWearYourShirt.com

Meet Jason Sadler he has created a business by wearing a different t-shirt everyday and getting paid by companies to do so. He has a keen sense of understanding how Social Networking can benefit businesses so he decided to put on some t-shrits for a living.

Excerpt from www.inc.com

So you've got a ton of friends on Facebook and a loyal Twitter following. Why not profit off them? Jason Sadler has found a way to capitalize on all the hype surrounding social media marketing. Three-hundred sixty-five days a year, Sadler serves as a live billboard for companies and charities on all the major social media sites. Sadler, who launched IWearYourShirt.com at the end of 2008, wears a shirt a day, and sells each calendar day according to its numerical value. On January 10, for example, a company would pay Sadler $10 to wear its shirt. He works from his home in Jacksonville, Florida, and leverages his social media following by blogging, tweeting, filming a live video show, and updating his Facebook photo, all while wearing the designated T-shirt of the day. And, yes, he will still wear your shirt to a wedding, or even if he's sick in bed. Now that the idea has taken off, Sadler has hired a West Coast counterpart -- with a whole new following -- to expand the company's marketing reach.

Black History Month: Harriet Tubman

And on that path to freedom, Harriett Tubman had one piece of advice.

If you hear the dogs, keep going.
If you see the torches in the woods, keep going.
If they're shouting after you, keep going.
Don't ever stop. Keep going.
If you want a taste of freedom, keep going.

Black History Month: Nelson Mandela

It's not American history but black is black Nelson Mandela spent 27 years in prison because he was fighting injustice. I haven't even lived that long.

WOW!!!!!!!!!

Keeley Hazell rose to fame in 2004, winning a “Search for a Beach Babe” Page 3 contest. She has since branched out into all sorts of modeling, including videogame cover work. Hazell is constantly featured on hottest women lists, usually landing consistently in the top 10. If you’re a fan of a certain part of female anatomy Keeley really can’t be beat! If I was a teenager, please believe this picture would be a laminated poster on the wall in my bedroom! WOW!!!!!!!!!

Celebri-Tees

As we've been saying all along, tshirts are more than something you wear on your back;

they represent you,

your personality ,

your sense of style,

how in-tune with fashion you really are

and all the intricacies that form the potpourri of characteristics that make you unique.

Now with that said, usually we tend to put celebrities on a pedestal sometimes

but as you'll notice they really are no different than all of us;

when they work out they rock tshirts,

when they walk the dog,

when they perform etc etc etc.

Check out these tees from some of your favorite famous folks!

Worth The Risk

This companys' motto is: "live life without regret and accept challenges worth the risk". I couldn't have said it better myself. Many times we are too afraid of change and/ or failure so we refrain from taking a risk but life is soo short that if you waste it with fear, when you're finally courageous enough to take that next step it may be too late. For more on this company go to http://www.fukitt.com.

Black History Month: Martin Luther King Jr

Ok I feel just a bit ashamed about posting this after my Wet T-Shirt post but I believe part of Martin Luther King Jr's dream was for me to be allowed to blog about wet t-shirts every Wednesday.
